Who we are.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a group of passionate individuals, funded largely by public donation and by the city of Windhoek. Who dedicate their time, sweat and tears to aiding animals in need through education, action and provision of care. We provide a safe haven to animals that have been abused and medical care to animals in need. Our centre near Maerua mall houses more than five hundred furry friends who came to us through a variety of circumstances. Our primary goal is the prevention of cruelty and neglect and our passion is finding our animals the loving home they deserve.
How we can help...
-
If you are aware of any instance big or small that you believe may constitute cruelty to animals, contact us. We will follow up and take any and all appropriate actions in the interest of the animal's welfare and well being.
- If you can no longer care for your animals due to illness, infirmity or financial constraints come and see us. We will do everything in our power to help you and your pet.
How you can help....
-
Consider us next time you are looking for your new best friend. We have hundreds of dogs and cats in all shapes and sizes needing a loving home. Time and time again we hear from people that getting an SPCA pet is the best decision they ever made. Our animals are special.
-
We desperately need donations in all shapes and forms. We gratefully accept monetary donations toward staff and veterinary supplies. Blankets, shelters and food are always needed as we have a lot of bodies to keep happy and healthy.
- Skills and supplies, perhaps you have a building company and could donate some roofing for our aging kennels? Maybe you work in the catering industry and have some surplus meat that could be used for food? We use such a wide variety of things from cleaning supplies through to modified tractor tyres as beds. You may have just what we need
How can I get involved?
-
We can always use some extra hands. If you're passionate about pets and have some time to come and walk a dog or groom a cat on a weekend? We would love to meet you.
-
Attend one of our fundraisers; donate by having fun with us and showing you care by being there for the animals
-
Spread the word. Keep us in mind and when a friend or family member mentions their plans to get a pet. Mention us to colleagues and businesses, a little goes a long way and together we can save innumerable animals. Our ability to make a change is as limitless as people’s generosity and love for animals.
