HOW CAN I ADOPT?
Are you in the market for a furry friend? Well then you arrived at the right place, and welcome! We will briefly explain how our adoption process works. You can also view our available cats and dogs here on our website (just hover over 'Adoptions' on the menu tab).
Step 1
Come to our premises and visit our animals, play with them and get to know them a little. Always remember that these animals have been in their kennels for some time and may be super excited or a bit shy when you meet them at first. One of them will be sure to steal your heart!
Step 2
You found your true love and just cannot wait to take them home but wait, we need your details! Once you know which animal you would like to adopt, make sure to take note of their name. You can find an adoption application at our offices, on the Documents' page here, or fill out or online Adoption Application through the button below.
Step 3
So what happens now? Do not worry, we are almost done!
-
A house check to make sure your home is a good fit for the pet you would like to adopt.
-
A vet check.
-
Meet and greets with people (we require the whole family to come meet the pet to make sure the pet gets along with all family members and vice versa).
-
If adopting a dog, meet and greets with your other dogs (if you have any). This is to ensure that the dogs get along. The last thing either of wants is a dog fight at home because we didn't make sure the dogs get along!
-
If you want to adopt a cat and have a dog at home, we do a Dog Test to make sure that the cat is okay with dogs (no action required from you).

Step 4
We will let you know if we have any pending questions and if your application was approved!
Step 5
If your application was approved - it is time to make the adoption fee payment: Our adoption fees are as follows: cats N$ 930.00 and dogs N$ 1390.00. The adoption fees is a symbolic donation for the animal and include an animal vaccinated up to date, de-wormed, de-flea/de-ticked, spayed or neutered, and a microchip (applicable to cats and dogs, other species have other requirements).
Step 6
We will contact you to come and pick up your new furry family member! You will need to sign an adoption agreement to make your new pet official! We will give you a vaccination card with all medical notes you need.
Remember to bring a collar and a leash, and/or a cat-carrier. If you do not have a leash or a collar, you are welcome to buy that at the SPCA!
Congratulations on your new friend! We wish you a very happy life together and thank you for making the SPCA your first choice!
