A HUGE BIG FOUR-LEGGED THANK YOU!
SPCA WINDHOEK KENNEL RENOVATIONS PROJECT
The SPCA urgently needs to renovate their Stray and Sunshine Kennels. These kennels were built in the Seventies,
and have in recent years been basically renovated on an ongoing basis. But to make them more hygienic and a better,
happier place for the animals to be in, they need a total makeover. All cement floors and the walls need to have the
upper layer chipped off and re-cemented and re-painted. The cement and paint used will have to be of high quality.
Doors and fencing also need to be redone in some kennels. This extreme renovation will cost anywhere between
N$2 000.00 and N$5 000.00 per kennel.
Please help us to help those who cannot speak for themselves, by donating towards this worthy fundraiser, and thus
making their environment as good a place to be in, as we can offer them.

The Windhoek Gymnasium Scholars support the Windhoek SPCA and challenge all other schools.
The Windhoek Gymnasium did an awareness and fundraising campaign for all the animals at the Windhoek
SPCA, which culminated in a visit, by their scholars on the 22nd of September 2007, to the premises of
the Windhoek Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They were given a guided tour around
the premises, and an informal lecture explaining the general day-to-day duties of the SPCA and the need
for an animal welfare society. With great excitement they were allowed to pet the adult cats and a few
of the dogs. They were given information pamphlets on general pet care, also membership forms and
appeal leaflets.
The Windhoek Gymnasium would like to challenge all other schools in Namibia to do animal awareness and
fundraising for their local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and also encourage learners to
put into practice proper pet care, and help as volunteers at local animal shelters.
To end this special project this school shall host a radiothon at Maerua Mall in front of Checkers on
Saturday the13th of October 2007 from 10.00 till 13.00. This complete project was absolutely voluntary,
and learners were very keen to become involved.
All Namibian SPCA’s are private animal welfare charities, solely dependent on the goodwill of the public towards unwanted animals. The Windhoek SPCA offers the following services boarding facilities, pet education, free animal advice, dog tags, membership, re-homing, spay/neuter campaign and veterinary services for the underprivileged. Their mission is to be a safe haven for all strays, to teach respect for
all animals, and to prevent abuse to all animals. They are an open door for all animals, and no animal is ever turned away.
In 2008 the Windhoek SPCA shall not only concentrate on improving their facilities, and their services, but shall also take on humane education (together with other animal welfare charities) as one of its major priorities.
TO THE WINDHOEK LIVE TO RIDE MCC!
The Windhoek Live to Ride Club showed that they do have a softer side, by facilitating two donations to the Windhoek Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals this year, and thus proving that they
do care for animals. One donation of pet food earlier in the year came at a time when the SPCA was still coping with the Christmas rush of unwanted pets. The second donation of food and a cash donation
of N$1 000.00 was a combined fundraiser, and was given to the SPCA in May 2007. This combined fundraiser hosted by the Windhoek Live to Ride MCC and the Windhoek MX Club was a Funday held at the Gallina MX Track. All participants brought a tin of pet food and paid a small entry fee to raise some funds for the Windhoek SPCA animals. The Windhoek SPCA have bought blankets with this cash
donation, thus making life a bit more comfortable for some of the animals currently in their care.
As all SPCA’s are non-profit animal charities, wholly dependent on the goodwill of the public, the
Windhoek SPCA wishes to express its extreme gratitude to both the Windhoek Live to Ride and
MX Clubs. Without this kind of support all the animals currently being cared for by the Windhoek
SPCA would have had no hope and no future.

similar interests. Volunteering definitely makes life brighter for the animals in our care, and adds quality
to your life too.
You will learn to-

- brush and bathe pets available for adoption as needed. This really enhances any pets chances of being adopted !
- Assist staff in our animals receiving area where pet owners relinquish their animals into our care or hand over
strays picked up into our care
